Recommended website: http://www.strongest-links.org.uk/   Listing excellent links for School Librarians as compiled by Anne Robinson, no, not that one, the one on the recent School Librarian of the Year honours list!  It’s lovely when someone does the work for you!

Any ideas for this newsletter will be gratefully received.  The committee would like to make this a regular mailing so… ideas to Lynne please.  We would like to hear of successful projects and good practice within your schools, Primary, Secondary, Special and Independent.  Don’t be shy, advocate!  What about ideas sharing – for instance, anyone been able to make Dewey fun???

School Librarian of the Year: We hope you all saw the honours list in TES Friday Supplement dated 18.03.05.  It is very gratifying to see school librarians and libraries advocated in such a positive and national manner.  Here’s hoping it’s the start of things to come.

March 2nd 2005 Day School: Feedback was excellent although attendance was a little disappointing.  All the courses were well-received but the criticism that 2 hours really is not long enough for any course has been learnt and will affect future offerings.  The venue itself was most apt and the food wonderful.

Upcoming Courses: As the enclosed leaflet suggests, the Budgeting for School Librarians has been rearranged. Places are limited so book a.s.a.p. please.

'Tools of the Trade'
a day course for school librarians on how to make the best use of recent professional publications
York.  Led by Lynn Barrett and Mal Danks. A joint venture between SLG and the Yorkshire branch of SLA
Friday, October 21st 10am – 4pm Bedern Hall, York, Lunch, morning coffee and afternoon tea are included in the per day cost of £85 (plus VAT) for CILIP members/£100 (plus VAT) for non-members.  Go to http://www.cilip.org.uk/groups/slg/slg4a.html for full details.

Feedback thus far indicates courses requested on Cataloguing and Classification, Advocacy, Self-Evaluation, Displays, Reading Groups/Collaboration,  and Information Literacy.  Okay, WATCH THIS SPACE!!  (any other requests?)
